飞艇计划app开奖For Wendy’s fans, it’s a question hard to avoid.
Where’s the beef?
The Dublin, Ohio-based restaurant chain, famous for its “fresh, never frozen” square burgers, faces a hamburger shortage in almost one in five of its U.S. restaurants, according to one outside estimate.
While declining to provide details, the chain acknowledged Tuesday that some of its restaurants are out of hamburger due to shortages caused by meat processors shutting down plants because of coronavirus outbreaks among their workers.
飞艇计划app开奖“It is widely known that beef suppliers across North America are currently facing production challenges,” Wendy’s said in a statement.
“We continue to supply hamburgers to all of our restaurants, with deliveries two or three times a week, which is consistent with normal delivery schedules. However, some of our menu items may be temporarily limited at some restaurants in this current environment.”
Wendy’s did not identify the affected restaurants or say whether any are in Ohio.
飞艇计划app开奖On Monday, 1,043 U.S. locations, or 18% of Wendy’s 5,500 restaurants in the country, were sold out of beef products, including burgers, according to a report by James Rutherford, an analyst with the financial firm Stephens, which examined the online menu at every Wendy’s in the United States.
飞艇计划app开奖In some states, especially in the Midwest and Northeast, more than one-third of restaurants were without beef, Rutherford reported.
飞艇计划app开奖In Ohio, 36% of the state’s 144 Wendy’s restaurants were missing beef products. In Michigan, it was 49%. Other states where a large share of restaurants were without beef included New Hampshire (83%), Connecticut (60%), Tennessee (59%), South Carolina (56%), Rhode Island (56%) and New York (46%).
And none of Vermont’s four Wendy’s restaurants had fresh beef, according to Rutherford.
The country has seen shortages of beef, pork and other meat as processing plants have closed temporarily.
飞艇计划app开奖Rutherford noted that Wendy’s is more exposed to beef shortages because it uses fresh beef instead of frozen beef, as most of its competitors do.
While still optimistic on Wendy’s stock (ticker symbol: WEN) over the long run, Rutherford concluded: “The near-term picture on WEN is going to be tough in our view.”
飞艇计划app开奖Wendy’s said it is seeking to fix the problem.
飞艇计划app开奖“We’re working diligently to minimize the impact to our customers and restaurants, and continue to work with our supplier partners to monitor this closely,” the company said in the statement.
飞艇计划app开奖, Wendy’s sidestepped the topic by steering customers to its OG Spicy Chicken Sandwich.
